Food consumption grew 22% and 90% of supply is domestic production
On October 24, during the launch of the Plan Venezuela Alimenta, President Delcy Rodríguez reported that food consumption rose 22% in 2026 and that 90% of the food consumed in the country is produced in Venezuela.
Demand that grows with local supply. According to the figures presented by the President, the country's agro-industrial platform has recovered 78% of its operating capacity. The rise in consumption is met with domestic production in nine out of ten cases.
The President attributed the result to fiscal, financial and technological incentives aimed at domestic production, with an emphasis on innovation.
Drive domestic production, support domestic production, with very targeted public policies.
What it means for the agrifood sector
The Plan Venezuela Alimenta, announced on October 12 at FAO headquarters in Rome, links production with distribution networks to reach the zero hunger goal before 2030.
For investors, the figures show an expanding domestic market supplied by local production and an agro-industrial platform with installed capacity to grow. Agrifood is the first of the sectors the CIIP presents on this site.
