Pacific Seafood combines national production and foreign investment
The acting president of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, visited the Pacific Seafood fish processing plant in Cumaná, a project with investment from China aimed at domestic supply and, according to official information, international markets.
Domestic production, foreign capital. During the visit to the Pacific Seafood plant, located in the Santa Inés parish of Cumaná, authorities presented the project as an experience combining national production and investment from China.
According to information provided during the tour, the plant supplies the domestic market and has the capacity to sell products to international markets, including China and South Korea. No independent customs records were found to confirm export volumes, so these destinations should be read as officially reported information.
This is the mechanism, this is the virtuous formula we have discussed for Venezuela, which is to strengthen all productive engines.
Fishing activity on the rise
During the visit, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, reported that fishing activity grew 23% during the first two months of 2026 compared with the same period of 2025. Authorities also reported sectoral growth of close to 6% during 2025. Both figures come from official statements.
Pacific Seafood shows the potential of combining foreign capital, domestic production capacity and an export focus. To consolidate that opportunity, progress will need to be backed by verifiable data on production, destinations and trade volumes.
